Ade Orange - programming and vocals
    Pete Steer - keyboards
    Steve Harris - guitars

a brief history

The band were formed in early 1998 under the name dig. Pete and Ade had met on a number of occasions when Pete had visited Ade's studio with various doomed projects and Steve had met Ade due to their involvement in the Gary Numan band. Their first move was supporting John Foxx (electronic music pioneer and founder member of Ultravox) on his April '98 UK Tour. Encouraged by the reaction that the band received they set about some studio recordings. To avoid confusion with a Canadian band of the same name dig changed their name to en in early 1999. en is a Japanese word meaning a karmic bond which lasts a lifetime - which is how they feel about each other and after listening to their music is how they hope you will feel about them. To coincide with the new name the band released a limited edition CD single While You Were Sleeping which was the track which attracted most attention on the tour. They then supported Gary Numan at Nottingham's Rock City in April '99 and are currently writing and recording their debut album due for release in September 2000.

the Gary Numan connection

Ade has played keyboards for Gary Numan since the late 80's having originally met in the studio co-producing two tracks on Gary's 1986 Strange Charm album. Steve joined Gary's band as guitarist in 1997. Ade and Steve immediately realised that they had an en (although they didn't have a name for it at the time) and were destined to make some music of their own. Steve and Ade still play for Gary and continue to be close personal friends with him. By strange coincidence Pete had supported Gary on UK dates in a couple of different support bands.
